An American television producer, screenwriter and author. She is best known as the creator, head writer, executive producer, and showrunner of the television medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, the political thriller series Scandal, and the legal drama series How To Get Away With Murder.
In 2007, Rhimes was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 People Who Help Shape the World, and in 2015, she published a memoir, Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun, and Be Your Own Person.
She is a woman who has used her platform and talent to represent and explore black narratives in Hollywood with her work receiving 30 awards and nominations in total. Other than making some of the most addictive shows on television, she’s one of the only black female showrunners out there. She isn’t just an influence to black people, but women everywhere.
