What is your screenplay about?
A struggling screenwriter offers to serve as an alibi for a scandalized Hollywood producer in exchange for the development of his screenplay into a feature film.
What genres does your screenplay fall under?
Thriller
Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
Though the concept of a struggling writer compromising themselves to reach their dreams has certainly been brought to life by far more experienced (and better) screenwriters than myself, I think the main character’s reasons for struggle are relatable. I also believe that the antagonist (with the right actor) would make for a compelling character to watch.
How would you describe this script in two words?
Desperation and Salvation.
What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
GoodFellas
How long have you been working on this screenplay?
6 months to a year (multiple revisions)
How many stories have you written?
3 screenplays, currently working on a fourth.
What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)
Too many to count but Rockin’ in the Free World by Neil Young.
What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
Challenges in creating a compelling main character that the audience would root for, while clearly communicating his evolution throughout the story.
Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Songwriting, Guitar
What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?
Though I have received constructive feedback on this screenplay from professional readers and competitions, the opportunity to receive feedback from a performance will further help to improve the screenplay and my skills as a writer. I thought the feedback I received was encouraging and spot-in with the areas that have to be improved upon.
