Wyatt Jones, a war hero suffering from PTSD, returns to his West Virginia hometown as the newly appointed Sheriff. There, with his wife, teenage daughter, and battle-scarred war dog, he struggles to acclimate to the increasing pressures of his new life, while mentoring an earnest local Deputy. When an anti-mining activist disappears, he is suddenly thrust into a decades-long serial killer investigation, forcing him to team up with a troubled FBI special agent with secrets of her own. Together, they pursue the investigation deep underground — from the wild caves and abandoned mineshafts to the very depths of human depravity — where each must overcome their own trauma in order to stop the killer and reclaim their lives.
