A FILM BY VERA VAUGHN – AUDIENCE FEEDBACK Horror/Thriller Aug. 2016 Film Festival

See the best of the August 18, 2016 Horror/Thriller Film Festival

Watch the Audience FEEDBACK of the Short Film:

MOVIE POSTERA FILM BY VERA VAUGHN, 10min, USA, Thriller/Sci-Fi
Directed by Sorrel Brae

In this supernatural digital-age thriller, a filmmaker falls through the looking glass when she must face her own terrifying creation.

Director’s Statement:

DIRECTORS’ NOTES

A successful film should challenge its audience with a unique point of view. But before it can challenge it must first engage, which is why I set out to create a psychologically probing film embedded in the trojan horse of a genre movie. The goal is an entertaining film that leaves its audience asking questions and, ultimately, investing themselves in the answers.

What is the nature of identity? What psychological consequences are implicated from the power of the creative process? Is there a part of yourself you would destroy if you could? And would you then still be yourself? How does a growing psychological isolation parallel our age of hyper-connectivity?

These are just a few of the questions that inspired “A Film By Vera Vaughn”. I hope you enjoy our exploration and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

PREFERENTIAL OPERATION – AUDIENCE FEEDBACK Horror/Thriller Aug. 2016 Film Festival

Watch the Audience FEEDBACK of the Short Film:

MOVIE POSTERPREFERENTIAL OPERATION, 20min, Spain, Thrille/Drama
Directed by Roger Comella & Carles Velat

Four masked men kidnap the director of a bank branch in an unremarkable town. They put him in a van and ask him 90,000 euro from his own pocket.

Director’s Statement:

DIRECTORS’ NOTES

“Operacion Preferente” (Preference Operation) is a short film we like to classify as “Social Thriller”. That is, a story about a social reality with suspense, mystery and a touch of humor and action. We wish to reach the largest audience possible and be able to make them aware of this social conflict; preference shares.

The plot is inspired by a true story that happened in Germany a few years ago; three men kidnapped the director of a bank to make him return all their savings, which had been deposited in a fraudulent retirement plan. Based on this true story, we have created a fiction about the social drama caused by the preference shares in Spain.

“Operacion Preferente” takes place in an unremarkable town, pretty small, where everybody knows each other. A place where the “by word of mouth” and “I have something that may interest you” spread like the plague, no matter whether you are a stranger, a neighbour, the father of a friend or a relative: the temptation of money makes no distinction.
